Zelenskyy: Russia Must Be Held Accountable For Its Invading Crime

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, has urged the UN to punish Moscow for its invasion, calling for a special court and the removal of Russia’s veto power in the UN Security Council. Zelenskyy stated in a pre-recorded video address to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) that “a crime has been committed against Ukraine and we demand just punishment,” just hours after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the mobilization of 300,000 reserves, nearly seven months after he first ordered troops to cross the border into Ukraine. 

Zelenskyy claimed that Kyiv had a five-point plan to create a lasting peace, which included not only punishing Moscow for its aggression but also restoring Ukraine’s security and territorial integrity and offering security guarantees. Zelenskyy was wearing his signature khaki-colored t-shirt. “Retribution for the offense of aggressiveness. punishment for border and territorial integrity violations. He addressed the crowd while his wife, Olena Zelenska, was there. He said that punishment must be implemented until the internationally recognized boundary is restored.
