Zelensky will address the United States Congress

1 min read

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will conduct a virtual address to the US Congress in roughly an hour for his next high-profile speech.

It follows a speech he gave to the UK Parliament last week, mirroring Winston Churchill’s inspiring comments during World War II, and a speech he gave to Canada’s Parliament yesterday.

President Zelensky has already addressed members of the United States Congress, most recently in a Zoom call a few weeks ago.

He begged for greater help at the time. Requests for fighter planes and a no-fly zone were among them.

He’s certain to repeat similar requests, putting further pressure on President Biden.

There is some support in Congress for supplying fighter jets, but a no-fly zone is a red line because it would bring Russian soldiers into direct contact with US and NATO troops, escalating the conflict.
