According to the United Nations, Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie visited war-torn Yemen on Sunday to demonstrate sympathy with displaced families in the aim of rallying support for an upcoming fundraising conference. Jolie is in Aden, a city on the southern coast of Yemen, to meet with families and refugees.

The United Nations Refugee Agency expects that Jolie’s visit would bring attention to Yemen’s rising humanitarian needs. According to the United Nations, 66 percent of Yemen’s 30 million people rely on humanitarian aid to survive on a daily basis. According to statistics from the Armed Conflict Location & Event Project from 2022, the conflict has subsequently evolved into a regional proxy war that has killed over 150,000 individuals, including over 14.500 civilians.
