Temperature is rising in many parts of the country. Maximum temperatures are above average over western, northwestern, and central parts of India. According to the India Meteorological Department(IMD), the maximum temperature in these areas will be five-time degree Celsius above normal. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature will drop by 2-3 degrees over West India in the next three days, and no significant change will occur.

Usually, February is a winter month, and the temperatures in some parts of the country are touching 40-degree Celsius. There is already a huge concern over the possibility of hot summer and extended heat waves this year.

“The maximum temperature in February, averaged over the country as a whole, is expected to be around 28 degrees Celsius based on the record of the 30 years from 1981 to 2010. This is taken to be “normal.” The minimum temperature is expected to be around 15 degrees Celsius.”

In recent weeks, there was already a maximum temperature of 5-11 degrees celsius higher than usual in most parts of northern and western India. Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra have been the most conspicuously hot, with temperatures in a few places reaching almost 40 degrees C.
