Ukraine War: Biden Says Putin Earmarked War Crimes After ICC Arrest Warrant1 min read
Vladimir Putin has ‘clearly’ earmarked war crimes, and US President Joe Biden declared that the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) determination to issue an arrest warrant for him was justified.
“He’s committed war crimes,” Mr. Biden stated. Speaking about the arrest warrant smashed on the Russian President by the ICC, Mr. Biden counted. “Well, I think it’s justified. But the question is – it’s not recognized internationally by us either. But I think it makes a very strong point.”
The global court in Hague has published an arrest warrant for Mr. Putin, with prosecutors blaming Russia’s President for being responsible for war crimes committed in Ukraine.
Mr. Putin “is allegedly responsible for the war crime of unlawful deportation of the population (children) and that of unlawful transfer of population (children) from occupied areas of Ukraine to the Russian Federation,” the ICC said. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated Russia doesn’t recognize the ICC and regards its decisions “legally void.”
