UAE FM: UAE is eager to collaborate with Russia on energy security

1 min read

The UAE is eager to work with Russia to improve global energy security, said UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Moscow on Thursday.

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have so far refused to deploy their spare production capacity to keep oil prices in check. The UAE abstained in a recent UN Security Council resolution criticising the Ukraine incursion, which was vetoed by Moscow. Russia appeared to have reversed its prior position that Western sanctions were a barrier to reviving the 2015 nuclear agreement between world powers and Iran, just as a deal looked to be close at the Vienna negotiations. During his meetings in Moscow, Sheikh Abdullah claimed he will also discuss Iran, Syria, and Iraq.
