Two people were arrested at Delhi Airport with a total of Rs. 23 lakh in foreign money and a rifle.

On Thursday, a Dubai-bound traveler was detained at the Delhi airport carrying Saudi Riyals worth $23,000. A person arriving at the airport from Dubai was also arrested with a weapon and two empty magazines. Section 104 of the Customs Act and the Arms Act of 1959 have been applied to the traveler. According to Customs authorities, the traveler was stopped at Terminal 3 by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and the customs department after receiving a tip. In the second case, a Customs agent detained the 32-year-old traveler based on suspicion. Officials say the pistol was discovered during a search of his hand luggage.
“The recovered foreign currency is equivalent to ₹23.10 lakh Indian rupees. The passenger has been placed under section 104 of the customs act and is being questioned further,” the official said.
