Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) debuted the classic SUV model Hilux in the nation on January 20, with deliveries set to begin in April.

The carmaker, a joint venture between the Japanese Toyota Motor Company and the Kirloskar Group, has begun bookings for the vehicle; however, the pricing of the model is set to be released in March 2022.

The car will be equipped with a 2.8-liter diesel engine linked to both manual and automatic transmissions, according to the manufacturer. Among other safety and convenience features, the model has a 4X4 drive and a water wading capability of 700 mm. In over 180 countries, Hilux sales have reached 20 million units.

The vehicle has several first-in-class technologies, such as an electronic drive switch, electronic diff lock, and downhill assist control. It also has seven airbags, stability control, and hill assist control. The automatic gearbox (AT) variations provide 204 HP of power and 500 Nm of torque, while the manual trims produce 204 HP and 420 Nm of torque. All variations include a 4X4 powertrain, allowing consumers to indulge in off-roading activities.

“With the debut of a famous vehicle recognised for exceptional toughness across the world’s terrains, we begin an incredible adventure. The name Hilux is self-explanatory, since global sales have now topped 20 million vehicles. This much-anticipated lifestyle vehicle is ideally suited for off-roading excursions as well as regular city rides”, Masakazu Yoshimura, Managing Director of TKM, said reporters during an online event.
