The All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) has announced that on Tuesday, power sector workers will stage a nationwide protest against privatisation measures. As per the AIPEF statement, on the demand of the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE), power employees and engineers across the country will organise protest rallies against central government privatisation plans.
According to the statement, NCCOEEE has also resolved that the core committee leaders of NCCOEEE would meet with the Punjab Governor on February 1 and present him with a memorandum opposing the privatisation of the Chandigarh UT Power Department.
On February 2, NCCOEEE core committee office bearers will address a strike rally of Puducherry power employees in Puducherry. On-call of NCCOEEE, over 1.5 million power employees and engineers throughout the country will organise a nationwide protest and rally on February 1 at all district headquarters and projects against Central Government privatisation plans, stated AIPEF Chairman Shailendra Dubey.
