On Saturday, the Philippines’ Department of Health (DOH) announced 941 new COVID-19 infections, increasing the country’s total number of confirmed cases to 3,666,678. According to the DOH, 109 additional persons died as a result of COVID-19 problems, bringing the country’s death toll to 56,879. The number of active cases has now fallen to 49,374. The DOH has recorded less than 1,000 new cases for four days in a row as the Omicron wave, which peaked in mid-January, has subsided. The Philippines had the highest single-day tally this year on January 15, with 39,004 new cases. Since the epidemic in 2020, the Philippines, which has a population of about 110 million people, has tested over 26.6 million individuals.
