In recent months, corporations such as Meta and Ralph Lauren have rushed to get their foot in the metaverse’s virtual door.
However, cybercrime in the real world is already on the rise. Check Point, a cybersecurity firm, estimated a 50% rise in overall corporate network intrusions per week last year compared to 2020.
According to Prabhu Ram, head of the industry intelligence department at CyberMedia Research, while firms race to plant their flag in the metaverse, not everyone may be aware of the full perils of this new realm.
