The Indian Hockey legend and Olympic Medalist Charanjit Singh passes away at 90

Charanjit Singh, the captain of India’s Olympic hockey team that won gold in Tokyo in 1964, died in Una, Himachal Pradesh. The sources said he dies out of age-related complications. Charanjit was born on November 22, 1930, in the village of Mairi, Una district. He graduated from Col. Brown Cambridge School in Dehra Dun and Punjab University, and he was a member of the team that won the silver medal at the 1960 Olympics in Tokyo.

Charanjit Singh worked as the Director of the Department of Physical Education at Himachal Pradesh University in Shimla after retiring from hockey. He would have been 91 years old next week. The final rites will be performed later today.
