Tests On DNA From Fingernails Lead To Arrest 42 Years After A Murder

1 min read

After the investigators took a DNA sample from under the slain woman’s fingernails, a more than 40-year-old murder cold case may have been solved. Sandra DiFelice, 25, was viciously raped and killed on December 26, 1980, in Las Vegas, USA, in a crime straight out of a novel.

Officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reportedly opted to employ cutting-edge equipment to examine the DNA taken from under the fingernails of slain DiFelice after reexamining the case. So, on Monday of this week, the police announced that they had detained Paul Nuttall, 64, on the basis of his alleged involvement in the woman’s rape and death. “After Paul Nuttall was taken into custody, my cold case investigators had the pleasure of making the one phone call that every cold case detective wants to make,” said Las Vegas Police Lt Jason Johansson in a press conference.  “I am hopeful that in some way, shape, or form this provides some sort of closure for the family,” added Johansson.
