Following an extraordinary investigation into an alleged terrorist plot, four individuals in Iceland have been arrested on suspicion of targeting “different institutions of society” and “citizens of the state.” The national commissioner of the Icelandic police, Karl Steinar Valsson, did not reveal anything about the nature of the targets but speculated that they may have included the parliament and police.
A huge police operation involving 50 officers recovered semi-automatic guns, including 3D-printed ones, as well as “thousands” of rounds of ammunition in nine sites. According to local media, authorities were looking into possible links to Nordic far-right groups.
