Tamil Nadu reports 26,533 new Covid cases – Chennai records the highest number 5,246

Tamil Nadu recorded 26,533 new Covid-19 infections on Friday, bringing the total to 32, 79,284, while 48 new fatalities brought the total to 37,460, according to the health department.
The medical bulletin says that recoveries outnumbered new infections, with 28,156 patients released in the past 24 hours, totaling 30,29,961 and leaving 2,11,863 ongoing illnesses.
Chennai had the highest number of new coronavirus infections (5,246), followed by Coimbatore (3,448), Tiruppur (1,779), Chengalpet (1,662), Salem (1,387), and Erode (1,261), with the remaining cases having been spread throughout various districts.
