Tamil Nadu Covid-19 Update: The State reports 16,096 new cases

Tamil Nadu continued to see a reduction in new infections on Tuesday, adding 16,096 new coronavirus cases to the state’s total of 33, 61,316. The total number of recoveries was 31, 35,118, with 25,592 patients being discharged following treatment. Three returnees from the UAE, Qatar, and Sri Lanka were among the new cases.
In the last 24 hours, the state reported 35 fatalities, bringing the total death toll to 37,599. The total number of active cases, including those in isolation, amounted to 1, 88,599.
Chennai had the most new infections on Tuesday, with 2,348 cases, followed by Coimbatore (1,897), Chengalpattu (1,308), Tiruppur (1,297), Erode (924), and Salem (851). The districts of Ariyalur, Mayiladuthurai, Perambalur, Vellore, and Sivaganga recorded fewer than 100 cases.
With 5,127 people released today, Chennai’s total recoveries reached 6,93,929 while fatalities reached 8,960. The number of active cases in Chennai was 31,845.
