With the use of a psychedelic component found in magic #mushrooms that aids in the treatment combined with psychotherapy, a recent trial gave those with depression hope. Following a single 25mg dose of psilocybin, researchers found that approximately one-third of patients with severe depression were treated for fast remission, and therapy sessions were geared toward helping patients pinpoint causes and potential remedies.
The study, which was conducted at 22 locations in the United Kingdom, Europe, and North America, dubbed the findings “exceptional.” The cost of the therapy was almost $3.7 billion (or 3.9 billion euros). Nearly 100 million people worldwide suffer from treatment-resistant depression, a serious depressive disorder that hasn’t improved after at least two antidepressant medications. According to specialists, 50% of those impacted have difficulty performing daily tasks.
233 people with resistant depression were included in the phase 2b trial at the start of the trials and were assigned at random to consume one Comp360 capsule containing 1 mg, 10 mg, or 25 mg of synthetic psilocybin.
Prior to the medication taking action, patients were asked to concentrate inward for six to eight hours. Compared to individuals who received 10 or 1 mg, those who were administered 25 mg of the drug experienced the biggest effects.
