A small plane that crashed into power lines Friday night in the US state of Maryland reportedly resulted in a significant loss of electricity in Montgomery County, according to the reports, which quoted local authorities. The incident did not result in any injuries. Over 90,000 homes and businesses were affected by the countywide blackout.
“Power has been lost in some areas of the county as a result of a small plane colliding with power lines near Rothbury Drive and Goshen Road. @mcfrs is on the scene. There are still live wires there, so PLEASE AVOID THE AREA” tweeted the Montgomery County Police. Near a business area, the accident occurred during a period of severe rain, but the reason why is still a mystery. The report stated that it is thought the plane may have collided with power lines up to the 10th floor, although it was not possible to confirm this right away. An investigation is now underway.
