Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das discussed cryptocurrency again. The RBI will introduce a block chain-based digital currency next year, according to the Finance Minister’s Budget address.
“I believe there is total synchronization with which RBI and Ministry are working, not just on crypto but on everything else as well, respecting each other’s domain and also recognizing what we have to do with each other’s priorities and in the national interest.” “There will be no turfing here,” Sitharaman declared after the meeting.
“Like several other issues, this particular issue is internally under discussion b/w RBI & the Govt. Whatever points we have, we discussed with the Govt. Beyond that I think I will not like to further elaborate,” said Das.
Just a few days ago, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das reassured crypto investors, saying, “It is my obligation to remind the people who invest in cryptocurrencies that they are doing so at their own risk and that the coin has no underlying value, not even a tulip.”
“Yes, the topic was addressed between the Finance Minister and the RBI governor, along with other concerns, and there are no differences of opinion on any of them,” a Finance Ministry official who asked to remain anonymous said.
