Shrikant Shivade, noted criminal lawyer dead

Noted criminal lawyer Shrikant Shivade, who represented two accused in the 2 G spectrum case and handled high-profile cases involving Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Shiney Ahuja, died on Wednesday in a private hospital here in Maharashtra after a long illness, according to sources close to his family. He was 67 years old.
According to reports, Advocate Shivade was diagnosed with leukaemia (blood cancer).
Shivade, a law graduate from the Indian Law Society, represented stars Salman Khan in the 2002 hit-and-run case, as well as actor Shiney Ahuja, who was charged with rape in 2009.
He defended two defendants in 2 G spectrum trials and also represented Peter Mukerjea in the Sheena Bora murder case. Bharat Shah, a diamond trader, was also represented by him.
