Scientists Are Perplexed By Strange Polygon-Shaped Cyclones On Jupiter

Jupiter is one of the most researched planets by space astronomers. A group of experts has now given new light on the odd storms that ring Jupiter’s north pole. Each of these storms is as massive as the United States, according to the publication.

Concerning the storm’s stability, the scientists, led by Andrew P Ingersoll of the California Institute of Technology, proposed that “an anticyclonic ring” between the primary cyclone and the lesser cyclones keeps the clusters in their distinct polygonal shapes. The research is based on picture analysis from Juno’s Jovian Infrared Auroral Mapper (JIRAM) sensor. They were, however, unable to uncover data along the previously predicted lines concerning “the expected hallmark of the convection a geographic link between divergence and anticyclonic vorticity.”
