After being relocated to a faraway village under the new allotment order, a government school teacher in Telangana’s Nizamabad district allegedly committed suicide. Saraswathi, a 32-year-old teacher, was reportedly dissatisfied with her relocation to a school in a Kamareddy district village. Through Government Order (GO) 317 for allocating government posts, the transfer order was issued under the newly constituted zone system.
Saraswathi’s relatives and other school teachers claimed she was dissatisfied with the transfer and the new guidelines. She was being relocated from Nizamabad to Kamareddy, which is around 60 kilometres distant. The cause of the suicide has yet to be determined by the police. She was staying with her two children and her family. Her husband is a foreign worker.
On Monday, police detained Congress MLA Jeevan Reddy, who was on his way to meet the family, while party state unit chief Revanth Reddy blamed the suicide on the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). BJP workers were detained as well during their anti-TRS march.
