Russia’s request for an emergency meeting is granted by the United Nations

            On Friday, the United Nations Security Council will conduct an emergency meeting to consider Russia’s accusation that the United States is sponsoring the development of biological weapons in Ukraine.

Russia has sought the conference, which Western nations accuse of manufacturing the claim in order to legitimise its own potential future use of biological and chemical weapons in Ukraine.

Earlier, Ukraine’s president denied the country was developing such weapons and accused Russia of planning to deploy them on Ukrainian people.

In response to the meeting’s announcement, a spokesperson for the US delegation to the UN told AP News that Russia was attempting to “gaslight [deceive] the public or use the UN Security Council as a platform for pushing their disinformation”.
