According to Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby, an investigation is underway, and the US will assist in recording Russia’s war crimes by gathering evidence.
As Russia’s military campaign against its East European neighbour enters its 27th day, the US declared that it had “clear proof” that it is committing war crimes in Ukraine. According to Anadolu Agency, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby stated during a news conference on Monday that there is an investigation underway and that the US will help record the war crimes by gathering evidence.
Russia launched an unprovoked invasion of Ukraine on February 24, striking military and civilian targets in a number of major towns, including the capital, Kyiv, and Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, prompting widespread criticism from international leaders and residents alike. Russian forces resumed their assault by bombing and shelling Mariupol, a strategically positioned port city with a high civilian casualty rate.
