On Friday, German Economy Minister Robert Habeck called for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s power to be curtailed and eventually eliminated. “We should do all we can to limit Putin’s authority and, in the end, to eliminate it,” Habeck, who is also Germany’s vice chancellor, told German television station ARD. “When we can affirm with oil and gas that we have secured supply lines, then we can take the next step,” Habeck said in response to calls for an immediate halt to Russian energy imports.
