In a now-deleted post, Vice President Kamala Harris’s social media account declared that the US is backing Ukraine “in defence of the NATO alliance,” which Ukraine is not a member of.

“While in Poland, I met with US and Polish service members, thanking them for standing with our NATO partners for freedom, peace, and security,” according to a tweet from @KamalaHarris. “In defence of the NATO alliance, the United States stands solidly with the Ukrainian people.” The sentiments in the post, which included a photo of Harris welcoming American and Polish service members, follow similar remarks she made over the weekend in D.C. while speaking to House Democrats at the Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) winter conference.
