According to a representative for Russia’s defence ministry, Moscow used hypersonic missiles to demolish an underground facility in western Ukraine.
According to Igor Konashenkov, the facility had missiles and “aviation ammunition of Ukrainian military”.
Russia has never previously acknowledged the use of hypersonic missiles in warfare.
They are cutting-edge ballistic missiles that can travel at more than five times the speed of sound in the upper atmosphere.
According to the Russian military, the “Kinzhal” missile system utilised in the operation has a range of more than 2,000 kilometres (1,242 miles) and can defeat all existing air and missile defence systems.
