Rod Marsh, an Australian cricket icon, has been rushed to hospital in Queensland after having a major heart attack. The former wicketkeeper was in Bundaberg for a charity event for the Bulls Masters.

Marsh was reportedly transported to the hospital by the organisers after suffering a heart attack shortly after arriving in Bundaberg. “We are very worried to hear the news concerning Rod and extend him all our best wishes”, Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley said.

“At this terrible moment, our thoughts are with him, his wife Ros, their family, and many friends.

Rod is one of the most iconic and popular people in the game, and we appreciate and respect those who are caring after him”, Australian media cited Hockley as saying.

Marsh represented Western Australia in 97 first-class matches, and WA Cricket CEO Christina Matthews wished him a “full and swift recovery”.

“We are profoundly disturbed to learn about Rod Marsh’s medical emergency following a massive heart attack”, she stated.
