Putin Blamed Ukraine For The Crimea Bridge Bombing, Calling It A “Terrorist Act”

#Moscow on Sunday blamed the fatal explosion on the bridge connecting Crimea to #Russia to Ukraine, even as Kyiv denounced the most recent deadly missile attack on its soil that left at least 13 people dead. “The authors, perpetrators, and sponsors are the Ukrainian secret services,” Russian President #Vladimir Putin said of Saturday’s Crimea bridge bombing, which he described as a “terrorist act”.

According to Russian news sources, Putin was speaking at a meeting with the chairman of the inquiry team he set to look into the incident. The latest deadly attack on the city of Zaporizhzhia in southern Ukraine resulted in the deaths of at least 13 people, including one child, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to a statement from the president’s office, the attack also left 89 people injured, including 11 children. Zelensky described the “merciless strikes on peaceful people” and residential buildings as “absolute evil” perpetrated by “savages and terrorists”.

Oleksandr Starukh, a regional official, shared pictures of severely damaged apartment buildings on Telegram and announced the start of a rescue mission to locate victims under the wreckage. On Sunday, Russian officials also denounced what they claimed to be an increase in Ukrainian firing into their territory that had damaged residences, office buildings, and a monastery.
