The lady was laying on a stretcher in one of the most harrowing pictures from the battle, according to video and photos captured after the strike, which occurred last Wednesday.

According to the Associated Press, her baby was delivered through emergency C-section on Saturday, but physicians confirmed the next day that both had perished.

Russian officials made baseless assertions that the maternity hospital had been taken over by Ukrainian radicals and was no longer functioning as a medical institution. Ukrainian officials have categorically denied these assertions, accusing Russia of committing a war crime.
