Poland’s decision to send fighter planes to Ukraine is ‘confusing’, according to a US military analyst

As previously reported, the US turned down Poland’s offer to transfer all of its Soviet-made Mig-29 fighter planes to Ukraine via an American airport in Germany.
“The idea of fighter planes at the disposal of the government of the United States of America departing from a US/NATO base in Germany to fly into airspace contested with Russia over Ukraine raises major concerns for the whole NATO alliance”, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said.
Poland’s offer took the US off guard, as it came in response to Ukraine’s escalating requests for Western friends to equip it with combat planes to assist fight Russia’s incursion.
