Currently reported 76 in Turkey and 250 died in Syria. The Geological Service on Monday, February  06, 2023. Reported that southeastern Turkey, near Gaziantep, was jolted by a massive 7.8-magnitude earthquake. The Local officials confirmed that at least 300 people might die in the disaster, and more people were feared to be trapped under the wreck. 

The state media announced that around 110 people died in Government-controlled parts of Syria as many buildings have turned into the trash in the earthquakes. The local station has reported 250 death and 500 injuries.

“250 and 500 injuries have been reported in Aleppo, Hama, and Latakia as a result of the earthquake in a preliminary toll.” 

Governor Erdinc Yilmaz confirmed that 34 buildings were turned into the trash in southern Turkey’s province of Osmaniye. 

As per reports, the region was struck by the earthquake at 04:17 am local time (0117 GMT) and a depth of about 17.9 kilometers (11 miles), stated the US agency. The quake was also felt by people in Syria, Lebanon, and Cyprus, as residents rushed to the snowy streets.

Resident people and rescue workers are agitatedly searching for the survivors in the piles of collapsed buildings has arrived and survivors from various cities on the two sides of the border.

Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) has placed the quake’s magnitude at 7.4 near Kahramanmaraş Province.

 Turkish president tweeted that “rescue and search teams were immediately dispatched” to the affected areas of the earthquake.

He also tweeted, “We hope that we will get through this disaster together as soon as possible with the least damage.”

The Rescue team appealed to people for extreme silence to survivors trapped in the rubble of 11 story building. Syrian American Medical Society’s President Amjad Rass said that emergency rooms are flooded with injured people.
