On Sunday, Delhiites got to see over 100-year-old beauties from motor history at the Statesman’s antique vehicle show.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, Chief of the Air Staff. The John Morris fire engine remained the focal point of the vintage automobile show. For vintage automobile enthusiasts, a total of 52 cars were on show, including 25 vintages and 27 others from the classics, post-war, and 50+ categories.

“The automobile exhibition has only happened twice, although this rally has been going on for the past 50 years”, stated Jitendra Pandit, Chief Judge, Vintage Car Display. However, owing to the COVID-19 epidemic, we were not allowed all of the rights, but we were granted permission to exhibit.

“I’ve been coming to these auto events and exhibitions for the past 5-6 years since my neighbours have owned a vintage car for the previous 75 years, which is how I started coming to these exhibits. I came here with my cousins and uncle, who brought two cars”, Masha, who works for a distribution firm that handles Swizz watches in India, explained.

“I have 317 historic automobiles, and a crew of around 50 employees is there for repair and maintenance, since maintaining these cars is a big task. Apart from the automobiles, I also have antique scooters and jeeps, bringing the total to over 450”, said Madan Mohan, a vintage car owner.
