Odisha; Five dead in road accident after wedding party

According to authorities, five members of the bridegroom’s party, including a father-daughter couple, were murdered and five others were critically injured after the SUV they were travelling in crashed head on with a truck on a bridge over the Mahanadi River in Sonepur district late Friday night.
According to Sonepur SP Sitaram Satpathy, ten persons from Nimna and Panchmahala villages in the Ullunda block of Sonepur district were returning from a marriage celebration in Kaudiamunda village when their Bolero vehicle collided with a truck across the Mahanadi bridge at approximately 1 a.m. Along with Pramod Pandia, Trayambak Meher, and Subham Pandia, Ashish Pandia and his daughter Siddhi Pandia were slain on the scene.
Police and other rescue workers used gas cutters to extract five individuals from the heavily damaged car.
As being evacuated to Sonepur hospital, all of the injured were transferred to Burla Medical College and Hospital for treatment after their conditions deteriorated.
