New Zealand reports 2,846 cases of new variant of Covid-19

On Tuesday, New Zealand registered 2,846 new community cases of COVID-19, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.
The largest city, Auckland, with 1,802 new community infections.
According to the government, the remaining cases were verified around the country, including 36 in Northland, 285 in Waikato, 105 in Canterbury, 206 in Southern, and 86 in Bay of Plenty.
In addition, the government reported that 15 additional cases were discovered near the New Zealand border.
According to the report, there are presently 143 COVID-19 patients being treated in New Zealand hospitals, with one of them in the intensive care unit.
Since the start of the pandemic, New Zealand has recorded 35,771 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 18,628 active community cases discovered in the last 21 days but not yet categorised as recovered, according to the Ministry of Health.
Under its COVID-19 Protection Framework, the country is at the highest ‘red setting’. Face masks are required in many interior situations in ‘red settings’, and gatherings are limited to 100 persons.
