New ‘Godzilla’ Movie In Development At Toho, The Awaiting Releasing Date Is Here

2 min read

#Toho is currently working on a new “#Godzilla” film. The King of Monsters himself, as well as other related kaiju figures like Rodan, Mothra, King Ghidorah, and Mechagodzilla, were all created by the venerable Japanese company. Toho released “Godzilla,” the first film based on the character and directed by Ishir Honda, in 1954. The statement was published on Toho’s Twitter account. The film’s upcoming release date was also shared in the tweet. In exactly one year, on November 3, 2023, the movie will be released in theatres. The movie’s director is planned to be Takashi Yamazaki. Since 2016’s “#Shin Godzilla,” this will be the first live-action Godzilla film.

Previously, Toho licensed the movie rights to Godzilla and associated characters to Legendary Studios. The MonsterVerse film universe, created by Legendary, was centered on extinct apex predators. In addition to Godzilla, Kong the huge ape was featured in MonsterVerse. They engaged in combat together in “Godzilla vs. Kong’s” climax scene. A “Godzilla vs. Kong” sequel and two TV shows will carry on the franchise. Given that there have been concurrent American and Japanese films with their own, distinct continuities, Toho’s new “Godzilla” picture is probably unrelated to the MonsterVerse franchise.

Godzilla vs. Kong, meanwhile, was a great financial triumph for Warner Bros. and Legendary. On a $150–200 million budget when it was released in 2021, it brought in $470 million. Additionally, the reviews for the movie were mostly favorable, giving it a 75% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Godzilla vs. Kong “delivers firmly on its title, swatting away character development and human drama to deliver all the spectacle you’d expect from huge monsters slugging it out,” according to the critical consensus.
