According to a BCCI source on Saturday, the senior fast bowler #Mohammed Shami will not play in the opening day of the ODI series against #Bangladesh because of a hand injury. After returning from Australia, where the Indian side lost in the semifinals of the T20 World Cup, The Shami is said to have hurt himself during a training session. The Shami might also be absent from the forthcoming two-test series, which starts on December 14 in Chittagong. Mohammed Shami hurt his hand after returning to training after the T20 World Cup in Australia. He was requested to report to the NCA and did not travel with the team on December 1, according to a top BCCI source who spoke to PTI under the condition of anonymity.

The Shami’s ailment has not yet been fully assessed. The speedster is a crucial component of India’s ODI strategy heading into the World Cup in 2014. If Shami is unable to play in the Test series, India’s captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid will be concerned because they need to win each match to have a chance of competing in the upcoming World Test Championship final at the Oval in June.

“Shami’s absence from three ODI games is definitely a factor but bigger worry is his likely absence from Tests where he is supposed to spearhead the attack in Jasprit Bumrah’s absence,” said the source. Shami has taken 216 wickets in Test cricket from 60 matches.
