Punjab Kings named Mayank Agarwal as their new captain for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season on Monday. Mayank was one of two players retained by the Punjab Kings before to the IPL 2022 super auction.
The India opener was retained for Rs 12 crore after the franchise dismissed previous skipper KL Rahul, who will now head Lucknow Super Giants in the 10-team season, which is expected to begin in the latter week of March.
Anil Kumble, the head coach of the Punjab Kings, stated of his hiring, “Mayank has been a vital member of the side since 2018 and of the leadership group for the previous two years”. The new group we assembled following the last auction has both intriguing youthful potential and exceptional seasoned players.
