Liverpool nearing to CL quarter finals by scoring two late goals against Inter Milan

1 min read

The Reds appeared to be heading for a goalless draw in the first leg in Italy until Brazil striker Roberto Firmino got on the end of Andrew Robertson’s corner to put his team ahead.

Harvey Elliott became the youngest player ever to start a match at the age of 18 years and 318 days. Liverpool scored on their only two shots on goal and will be strong favourites to advance when the two teams meet in the last match next month. Mohamed Salah added a second with a deflected strike from inside the area, giving Jurgen Klopp’s team a commanding lead heading into the second leg at Anfield on March 8.

The hosts came within a whisker of taking the lead again when Ivan Perisic whipped in a cross, but Lautaro Martinez was unable to convert.

The Reds will face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley in February. Liverpool is still chasing four trophies and might have one by the time Inter come, with the Reds meeting Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on February 27. Elliott, a teen, adores the San Siro stage.
