Tensions in Ukraine have risen further as Russian President Vladimir Putin boosted the alert level of his nuclear troops.

On Monday, the military attack on Ukraine reached its fifth day, with fighting in the streets of Kharkiv, the country’s second-largest city, and forces pushing closer to the capital, Kyiv, a metropolis of about 3 million people. Ukrainian defences have put up a strong fight, which appears to have slowed the onslaught. The United States and certain European nations announced a significant increase in arms supply to Ukraine, including additional Stinger missiles and fighter planes. Boris Johnson, the British Prime Minister, outlined plans to further isolate Russia from the international financial system. “We are committed, in collaboration with our partners and the G7, to implement the most severe economic sanctions against President Putin for his heinous campaign against Ukraine. Putin has to fail”, He said.
