On Tuesday, Delhi awoke to cloud cover in certain regions. Following light showers in neighbouring states, Delhi is expected to receive rain by the end of the night.
Meanwhile, as of 9 a.m., the average temperature in the capital was 14 degrees Celsius.
According to the IMD, due to the Western Disturbance that will affect northwest India, it is possible that rain will fall in Delhi-NCR on February 8 and February 9.
Meanwhile, the meteorological service predicts a partly overcast sky with mist and shallow fog on Tuesday morning, with a chance of light rain and drizzle later in the day.
Rainfall will be rather widespread, with thunderstorms and lightning possible across Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, and surrounding areas.
At the same time, the weather is expected to improve from February 11. If this is the case, there will be dense fog in the mornings between February 11 and 13, but the sky will be clear after that thanks to the weather being open throughout the day.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality remained in the ‘bad’ category on Tuesday morning, with the overall air quality index (AQI) at 280, according to data from the System of Air Quality Weather Forecasting Research (SAFAR). With the possibility of precipitation in the capital, pollution levels in the UT are anticipated to decrease.
“Due to forecast rain and related wet deposition on the 9th, the AQI is projected to be in the ‘poor’ range today and improve to ‘moderate’ or ‘satisfactory’ by the evening. From the 10th, relatively high wind speed is likely to improve dispersion and keep the AQI within the ‘Moderate’ or ‘lower end of poor’ range”, According to a statement from the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR).
In addition, according to SAMEER, the AQI in neighbouring areas of Delhi was in Noida (280), Gurugram (297), Faridabad (336), and Greater Noida (197).
