Lithuania calls for further sanctions on Russia

Stronger international penalties against Russia, according to Lithuania’s president, should be imposed.
Gitanas Nauseda told the BBC that Russia’s behaviour would not alter and that the West needed to be more assertive.
He stated that the Swift banking communications system should be blocked to all Russian banks, rather than just a few.
He also stated that Europe’s dependency on Russian oil and gas should be decreased, and that Lithuania was prepared to discontinue Russian imports.
Former Soviet Baltic republics have been vociferous about the need for increased military help to guard against potential Russian attack.
