Kherson is taken by Russian forces, and warfare in Kharkiv and other cities increases1 min read
As the confrontation with Kiev reached its eighth day, Russian soldiers grabbed the strategically vital city of Kherson in southern Ukraine on Thursday. Despite requests for dialogue, the Russians have refused to cease the fighting.
However, Ukraine said on Wednesday that nearly 2,000 Russian armed forces soldiers had been killed since February 24.
In the midst of this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked with Russian President Vladimir Putin about the situation in Ukraine, requesting him to give safe passage to Indians who have become stuck in the war-torn nation. Meanwhile, an aircraft from Bucharest carrying 183 Indians landed in Mumbai earlier in the day. Since February 24, the government has evacuated thousands of Indians, but many remain stuck in Ukraine.
