In the previous 24 hours, India has reported 2,38,018 new illnesses and 310 fatalities. The country has recorded 2,58,089 new cases and 385 fatalities as of Monday. The newest Covid-19 treatment guidelines from the Indian Council of Medical Research do not mention or advocate the use of oral antivirals, antibiotics, monoclonal antibodies, or vitamins. These recommendations came only days after ICMR Director General Dr. Balram Bhargav expressed concerns about the antiviral Molnupiravir. On Monday, the number of Covid-19 cases in West Bengal fell below 10,000 for the first time in 12 days.
The Maharashtra government has requested that the oral antiviral medicine ‘Molnupiravir’ be used with “abundant caution and under particular situations” for the treatment of symptomatic adult COVID-19 patients. The medicine has gotten emergency use authorisation from the Drug Controller, according to Dr. Pradeep Vyas, additional chief secretary (health).
