According to #Elon Musk, #Kanye West was suspended from the social media site #Twitter on Friday after he made antisemitic remarks and praised Hitler. After posting an image on his account on Thursday night that looked to display a swastika inside a Star of David, Twitter owner Elon Musk said that Ye’s account will be suspended. Musk responded to West’s tweet, “Just clarifying that his account is being suspended for incitement to violence, not an unflattering picture of me.”

West had also shared a picture of a shirtless Musk getting sprayed with water, captioned: “Let’s always remember this as my final tweet.” However, it was not immediately obvious how long the suspension would last.

Musk, who previously referred to himself as a “free speech absolutist,” has frequently stated that he thinks all content that is legal should be allowed on Twitter. Musk also sought to reshape Twitter after assuming control in October. Recently, West has made a number of anti-Semitic remarks as the once-dominant figure in music and fashion seem to have descended into a frightening spiral. On Thursday, he expressed his “passion” for Nazis and adoration for Adolf Hitler, which created controversy.

West, now known as Ye, made an extraordinary hour-long appearance on Infowars, the show hosted by conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, where he rantingly discussed sin, pornography, and the devil while wearing a full-face black mask. West often said, “I like Hitler.”

Adidas cut up its lucrative partnership with West earlier in October after the star made anti-Semitic remarks, including a warning to “go death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE” using a misspelling allusion to US military readiness. West’s relationships with the US apparel brand Gap and the Parisian fashion house Balenciaga have also come to an end. West wore a shirt reading “White Lives Matter” during a Paris fashion show as a dig at the Black Lives Matter racial equality campaign.
