The BTS member Jin was scheduled to participate in the well-known Korean variety program “Running Man.” But Big Hit Entertainment, the management company for BTS, has confirmed that Jin has canceled his participation due to the terrible catastrophe in Seoul’s Itaewon neighborhood, which left hundreds dead and numerous injured.

Five days have been set aside for national mourning in South Korea. On October 29 KST, a stampede that started in Seoul’s Itaewon neighborhood claimed the lives of over 150 people. Lee Ji-han, a well-known actor from Korea, was also listed as dead. The stampede has been called one of the worst incidents involving children to ever occur in South Korea. The majority of the deceased were in their 20s.

According to reports, a hotel hosted a Halloween celebration that over 100,000 people attended. As word spread that a famous person had been seen close, there was a stampede. One of the fan accounts of BTS tweeted, “South Korea has now announced a national mourning period with regard to the horrible Itaewon tragedy. All entertainment shows/events will likely be postponed to express condolences, so in order to respect the deceased and affected, please be careful with what you say  or post.”

JHope, a member of BTS, previously published a humorous Halloween post. The singer removed the message out of sympathy due to the tragedy. Not just BTS, but a number of other K-pop musicians are said to have postponed gigs this week in support of the families of the deceased.
