The visit of Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett to India has been delayed, according to Muhamed Heib, spokesperson for the Israel Embassy in India.

Naftali Bennett tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, according to reports

Israel had already confirmed Mr Bennett’s first visit to India since taking office as Prime Minister last year.

Mr Bennett was due to visit India on April 3-5 to commemorate 30 years of diplomatic relations between India and Israel, according to an official announcement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Israeli colleague previously met in November last year on the margins of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 26) in Glasgow. They also spoke on the phone on August 16, 2021.

During Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Israel in July 2017, India and Israel elevated their bilateral relationship to a strategic alliance.
