The International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) director is in Ukraine to meet with senior government officials about guaranteeing the safety and security of the country’s nuclear installations.
Rafael Mariano Grossi will provide urgent technical help, including dispatching specialists to important locations, in order to avoid any accidents.
“The current war puts Ukraine’s nuclear power reactors and other hazardous material facilities in unprecedented danger”, Grossi argues.
“We must move quickly to ensure that they can continue to run safely and securely, lowering the danger of a nuclear disaster”.
