India’s Covid count almost doubles, Total count jumps to 90,928

          On Thursday, India reported an exponential spike in coronavirus infections, with 90,928 new cases and 4,82,876 fatalities.

On Wednesday, the nation had reported 58,097 Covid instances.

Following a record number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, the state health ministry will host a review meeting on “augmented restrictions” and the state’s vaccination status, only one day after ruling out total lockdown imposition. Despite an increase in Covid-19 instances in the city, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar warned on Wednesday that there will be no lockdown-style restrictions till 20,000 hospital beds are full.

Furthermore, according to a recent BMC regulation, all private hospitals would be required to obtain approval from the Mumbai corporation body before accepting any covid-19 patient.

Late on Wednesday, Maharashtra recorded a record increase in daily cases, with the state’s total rising to 26,538 and Mumbai seeing the greatest single-day increase with 15,166.
