India sees a drop on daily case count with 2.55 lakh new cases

On Tuesday (January 25, 2022), India registered 2,55,874 new Covid-19 cases, which is 50,190 less than on Monday. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the active coronavirus caseload in the country is now 22,36,842, accounting for 5.62 percent of all positive cases.
In the previous 24 hours, a total of 16,49,108 tests were conducted, bringing India’s total to over 71.88 crore tests. The weekly positivity rate in the country is now 17.17 percent, while the daily positivity rate is 15.52 percent.
In addition, India recorded 614 new deaths and 2,67,753 recoveries.
With this, the death toll has risen to 4,90,462, while the number of survivors has surged to 3,70,71,898.
In the previous 24 hours, the country also provided more than 62 lakh Covid-19 vaccine doses, bringing overall immunisation coverage to 162.92 crores. This has been accomplished through a total of 1,77,12,517 sessions.
Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will have a virtual conference with nine states and the United Territories on Tuesday to assess the current Covid-19 situation. Mandaviya will meet with the health ministers of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Ladakh, Uttar Pradesh, and Chandigarh, according to a source.
Mandaviya had already met with the health ministers and top officials of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Goa, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and Daman & Diu on January 10.
He had urged them to ensure that there is no gap in preparation for the Covid-19 spike and emphasised the need of maintaining a comprehensive synergy for smooth pandemic management.
